NoticeEquitrek Australia has worked as a ride facilitator since 1990.We are now changing our role from facilitators to a more broad based information source within the niche of equine tourism. For bookings we suggest that you contact In The Saddle. In The Saddle is an excellent company who research the rides very carefully, and personally I would book with them any time. Most of the rides detailed here at Equitrek (and many, many more) are handled by them. Due to this change the information below will be updated over the coming weeks, but is kept here for posterity reasons. A holiday on horseback is a wonderful and satisfying experience if chosen wisely, but isn't always easily assessed from an advertisement. EquiTrek Australia is a past finalist in the NSW Tourism Excellence awards. Nelly is a keen rider and amateur naturalist who also knows about those special 'one off' rides. EquiTrek has been operating for over fifteen years and constantly 'road tests' rides from which the best are offered to you. Enjoyment, safety, minimum environmental impact and getting to know about Australia is our aim. For a few days or a couple of weeks you can enjoy the life of an original Australian Outback explorer without the hardships. On most EquiTreks a nightly rendezvous with a 4WD provides bedding and plenty of fresh food, cool drinks and horsefeed. Some EquiTreks are too rugged for a 4WD and we rely on packhorses for supplies. On all of the Australian EquiTrek programmes the land is respected. We care! So come to Australia, explore the mountains, rain forests, move along with the cattle, enjoy the outback, sightsee the major cities and enjoy! Accommodation ranges from a swag under the stars, to tents, shelter huts, cabins, shearers quarters, comfortable stations or cosy inns and luxury resorts, the choice is yours. Cost varies from $A200 per day fully catered, to $A600 for special arrangements. Your company is always pleasant - because only like-minded people from all walks of life join us and 'equitrek'. Horse trekking can be eco tourism too! We at EquiTrek are very concerned about the environment. Our love for nature is why we trek! We select environmentally friendly or eco-rides which enhance one's respect, understanding and love for nature and hopefully instil the will to "share the care" in preserving what we have. We are happy to assist with collecting data and keeping record for any appropriate environmental studies. Indeed treks can be arranged for this sole purpose. The good thing about an operation like EquiTrek is that so many of our clients become good friends. They enjoyed their rides, had lots of fun and leave it to us to arrange their next riding holiday. Knowing their preferences instead of guessing them makes it easy to choose well. Please note: This year many operators in Australia had problems with drought and fires, and as though that is not enough, with insurance as well. Some have suspended operations for a later date. We do not have a brochure as such, our rides vary too much, but email us and we'll answer your questions. nelly@equitrek.com.au Alternatively, read on to learn more about the Australian EquiTrek experience and our overseas selections.
