"Thumbs up". Good strong horses, well cared for, take you through superb countryside. Treks range from four to ten days pack horse trips fully catered. You may encounter stags and red deer, wild pigs and chamois. We are told the trout are usually in a biting mood too. On the trail we overnight in shearer's quarters or woolsheds - great fun.

Pick up can be arranged from Christchurch, Waipara or Waikari. Excellent farmstay accommodation the night before and after. The Mountain to the Sea ride is a ten day pack horse adventure totally unsuitable for the faint hearted and unfit. Be sure to have sturdy foot wear because of the steep and rough terrain, there is some leading involved.

This writer enjoys the "Weather Beata" jogger type boots and has covered many miles in them. They are safe and comfortable walking/riding footwear.
